The session began with our group marching towards Vraath Keep, deep in a forest called the Witchwood in Elsir Vale. They had come upon a map that promised an ancient treasure contained within it's vault. Travelling across the Golden Plains and along the Dawn Way had taken many weeks, and the green fields of Elsir Vale were a welcome sight after nothing but wasteland for days.
Near to their goal, they were ambushed by a band of Hobgoblins. Ixian and Sabine wasted no time and took to the skies where they had the advantage. Naudia lashed and stabbed her way through the horde while Obi and Hemio called upon their innate powers to rain destruction upon their foes. After fighting another wave of troops and 3 powerful Hellhound minons, the heroes were battered but triumphant. The leader of the group bore a curious holy symbol. Obi had recognized it as a symbol of Tiamat, queen of the evil dragons. Searching a nearby farmhouse, the bodes of the Hobgoblins' previous victims were discovered. After being put to rest by Ixian, the group moved onward.
The path to Vraath Keep took our group through the town of Drellin's Ferry. Weary, they decided to stop for the night before using Drellin's barges to cross the Elsir River. Sabine found a friend in Brother Dorney, a priest of Pelor, who recounted the history of the keep. Obi tried his luck at the 3 Dragon Ante tables, winning himself a nice pile of gold.
After settling in, Town Speaker Norro approached the group looking for help fighting the rampaging Hobgoblin Horde. He suspected they laired somewhere in the Witchwood and asked the heroes to investigate. Suspecting Vraath Keep, the heroes accepted. Captain Soranna, leader of the town militia, suggested seeking out Jorr, a tracker and guide, to help them find a path through the dangerous forest.
The end of the session left our group at the entrance of the Witchwood, preparing to seek out their guide and Vraath Keep.
